We seek a Disability Adviser to join our team at Student Success where you will implement inclusive support systems, as well as build independence and opportunities for tauira (learners).
You will provide information, support and guidance to prospective learners and current learners whose disability or impairment impacts on how they study and learn. You will work collaboratively with learners, academic staff and other support services to try to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners.
Ideally you will have experience of supporting learners and/or adults, including those with sensory impairment, in an education or community setting. You will have the ability to assess the learning support needs of learners with physical, sensory, learning, psychological impairment or illness and specific learning challenges and be able to use this information to provide advice and devise learning support strategies for students.
You will have a Bachelor’s degree level or a higher qualification in a relevant discipline such as Counselling, Social Services, Social Work, Disability, Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
You will have experience of assessing the support needs of learners with disabilities/impairments
Experience of working in the health and disability sector is desirable as is working experience in a tertiary environment
