Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role 

The safety and wellbeing of our kaimahi (staff) and ākonga (learners) is paramount, and one of the most important elements of the culture at Otago Polytechnic / Te Kura Matatini ki Otago. 

In this leadership role, you will drive the growth and development of our wellbeing and safety culture, and the health and safety capability of OP’s staff and learners, as well as lead the implementation of our health and safety strategy.

What you’ll bring to enable your success in this role:

· A genuine passion for wellbeing, health and safety, backed up with a track record of success in implementing strategy and culture change.

· A collaborative, approachable style and the ability to build meaningful relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

· Experience in leading the health and safety function in a multi-site, multi-disciplinary organisation, and

· A depth of knowledge and practical application of the Health and Safety at Work Act, combined with a broad range of best practice health, wellbeing and safety expertise. 

Whilst an understanding of the tertiary education sector would be advantageous, experience in the health, construction, engineering, manufacturing, and/or outdoor education industries would also be useful.
