Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role
Based at Te Pā Tauira, Otago Polytechnic’s Student Village, the role is predominately cooking delicious and nutritious meals for our residents and assisting with other commercial catering for our cafes and offsite and onsite events.
You will work in a team, planning, preparing, cooking and cleaning up the meal provision working rostered shifts over the seven days of the week. You will also contribute toward:

You will be an experienced and motivated chef that can run a busy kitchen supplying daily meals for residential students and multiple outlets including offsite catering and cafes. You will be passionate about the cooking and presentation of food and have excellent customer service skills.
You will have a willingness to learn and grow your knowledge and skill level. Ideally you will have previous experience in a commercial kitchen with a desire to prepare delicious food. You will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and be all about safety in the kitchen. Your time management and communication skills we be first class and you’ll enjoy being in a busy work environment that commercial kitchens are.
You will need to be flexible regarding hours and tasks and enjoy being part of a dynamic team while maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene and health and safety.
