Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role
We seek a passionate and experienced hospitality star for Otago Polytechnic’s Eden Cafe. The Barista/Cafe Supervisor will oversee the café kaimahi (staff) providing leadership and guidance, rostering duties and stock control. You’ll provide excellent hot beverages to our customers ensuring an exceptional standard of service and product.
Eden café is open Monday-Friday so the hours are great. You’ll get to develop and maintain relationships with your regular customers, being enthusiastic and energetic in your engagements.
Ko wai koe | About you
You’ll have a genuine want to please our customers by using your excellent customer service and barista skills. Your reliability, efficiency and bright, friendly outlook will be backed by demonstrable experience in food and beverage service, general café cleaning and cash handling. You’ll have high standards of hygiene, health, and safety (food safety qualification would be an advantage). To work in our hospitality areas, you’ll have great organisational skills and be able to work well in a team environment as well as unsupervised. Ideally, you will have previous skills and experience in leadership, rostering and stock control.
You’ll love making consistently great coffee in a busy and fast paced café that puts love and passion in every cup, with an openness to improve, discover and learn more about the craft. You’ll take pride in your craft ensuring you and the team around you work together to achieve successful outcomes.
It would be an advantage if you hold a Duty’s Manager Certificate.
