Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role 

The Dunedin School of Art seek an exceptional educator who specialises in textiles to support akonga on their learning journey. You will be able to share your knowledge, experience, passion and creativity with our learners by teaching skills and imparting your knowledge to ākonga in either full time or part time study and in practical and theoretical settings. You will be responsible for teaching and contributing towards student attendance, course guide information, curriculum development, student results, moderation, progress reports and resource bookings. Teaching will be across a range of levels and abilities from certificate to degree level learning. 

This roles also oversees the coordination of the annual graduate exhibition – SITE. A person with exceptional organisational skills, event management and hospitality experience would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will have:

· A desire to help ākonga learn

· Thorough knowledge of the textile industry with practical skill and experience

· Strong industry/practice networks and connection

· Excellent communication skills

· Competent computer literacy skills 

· Strong relationship building skills

· An undergraduate degree in a relevant field is essential, with a post-graduate qualification desirable

· A strong commitment to the support and training of our learners and to meeting their diverse cultural and learning needs

· Alignment and be able to contribute to the values and strategic priorities of Otago Polytechnic 

· Be able to integrate sustainable practices within your teaching

A teaching qualification is desirable or working towards one, as is competence in assessing student needs, developing individual learning plans, lesson planning and moderation.
